Pinot Noir and Copper River Salmon
Part 3 of a 4-Part Series (Part 1) (Part 2)
By Chuck Hill
We thought the Copper River salmon season was just late – and Chef Ted paid the high asking price for the rare fish that we enjoyed. Turns out that the season was a disaster and has been cancelled to allow the remaining fish to fight upriver and spawn. We can still get excellent frozen sockeye and silver from sea runs – and so can you! Enjoy!
The wines have been impressive as a group with many standouts that promise future enjoyment for those who seek them out.

2014 Pinot Noir, Schindler Vineyard
Eola-Amity Hills AVA
$50.00
Schindler Vineyard was planted in the year 2000 on the west side of Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills not far from Highway 22. The vines are in a thin layer of volcanic/Nekia soil over ancient fractured basalt. Tony Rynder’s rich and flavorful Pinot from this site offers aromas of smoky cherry and plum with flavors of dark cherry, mineral and toasty oak.
