This unoaked chardonnay is all about the fruit-floral and tropical aromas of green apple, kiwi, melon and lemon zest. Bright acidity with apple and pear flavors, followed by a crisp finish of mineral, wet stone, and flint. A perfect complement to summer salads and seafood dishes.
Vineyard Characteristics
This is a 60-acre vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills Appellation. Rocky, volcanic soils make up these southeast-facing slopes, which rise from 250 to 500 feet. Planted to a variety of Pinot Noir clones, this vineyard also has a small planting of Dijon-clone Chardonnay.
Light in color but bold in flavor! The 2008 Pinot Gris is bright and refreshing with pink grapefruit, lime, orange zest and lovely floral characteristics on the nose. Minerality, green fruits and grassy notes balance out the tropical components (peach, kiwi, more grapefruit) on the palate while the acidity and viscosity create a lush mouthfeel and persistent finish.
